We are almost at the halfway point of winter, the deep winter. Old timers called it Candlemas or Candelaria. Basically, if you have used more than half of the food you have canned and jarred, you’ll starve before spring comes. So we’re both screwed.
For the Aztec people, Feb. 2nd was the start of the farming year, the end of the holiday season, and the arrival of Spring, when one offered tamales to Tialoc.
For us, it’s more like the time to do a spring cleaning of our skincare and offer tamales to our tummies.
