Breakfast is a Scam

and how to chill out your uterus among other things

Happy Friday! [viernes happy dance]

What’s your schedule like in August? If you really want to be in your slow living/señora era, UCLA researcher Dr. Hershfield wants you to stop signing up for stuff so far in advance. His research found that we have a higher, aspirational view of our future selves and that’s why we end up signing up for 72 school committees and booking 27 camping trips. Scam! His answer? Stop thinking that you’ll have all the time in the world; use your current schedule as your guide, and just say no now to events too far ahead. Wait to decide later. This has been our tried and true trick to life for many years.

How important is breakfast? Not that much, it turns out. Long ago, big corporations used marketing to make Americans believe it was the most important meal of the day. Big ole scam. But ayuno (a morning fast) has been a thing for centuries, and there are also some fun and wholesome señora traditions around the first meal of the day (medialuna anyone?)

Why are we hearing so much about Ozempic and Wegovy? Read about this and the 4 other wellness trends that completely took over summer. Here’s a rundown of cold plunges. We’re all seriously just calling it a night and getting a horse trough or RubberMaid tub at Tractor Supply for like $130 (if it’s good enough for Gabby Reese…).

Are you in your period era this week? Borrow tips from tradition and try these easy tried and true hacks to help your uterus chill out.

But really, all you need for your cramps is to relax and chill out at home with things you love; like these Chillhouse Chill Tips, by Latina NY cool girl Cyndi Ramirez-Futon, who specializes in cult-favorite press-on nails, face rollers and more. We hear walking around in an Eberjey relaxing robe (Salvadorean and Argentinian-owned!) will cut your cramps by 90% (jk).
