Chaos in Jennifer Lopez' Trainer's Studio?
Plus why you need to get light in your eyes right after you read this
Celeb trainer Tracy Anderson says Jennifer Lopez is really dedicated to working out - but knows when to stop and not over-train. Anderson’s been dealing with a little chaos herself in one of her studios in the east coast. You can stream the workouts JLo loves on YouTube (not many people know, but these are actually the original building blocks of this method).
Your great grandmother/bisabuela was right; Gratitude is really good for you. Research is now showing that writing out why you feel grateful each night, or telling your loved ones exactly why you’re grateful for them actually helps you with things like anxiety and depression. Do this just once a day as you would a workout or yoga class.
Immerse yourself in gratitude with this new book “How to Love the World: Poems of Gratitude and Hope” by James Crews.
Light first thing in the morning is all the rage now, but it’s actually true: it helps you sleep better in the evening, and improves your mood overall during the day. Get light outside (without sunnies) within one hour after waking up and you’ll feel happier, and more refreshed throughout the day. We’ve been doing it for a month and are feeling the good effects.
Señoras of the past were right; Housework and dancing can improve your life and your mental well-being. Research is finding out now that actually 4,000 steps is enough to get good health benefits, instead of the 10K everyone talks about. But movement through housework and dance actually reduces the number of poor mental health days. Many of the women from our ancestral lines were used to daily walks.
Every Sunday we’ll bring you new streaming goodies to catch in your comfy bed and your perfect Latina-owned Rosalia PJ set that’s now on sale for almost half off, while you use this scalp massage tool with this Latina-owned brand Ceremonia hair oil.
To Stream From Bed This Week:
Untold: Hall of Shame: (Netflix, August 14th) Examine one of sports' biggest steroid scandals via interviews with the head of BALCO lab, athletes suspected of using performance-enhancing drugs and more.
Painkiller (Netflix, out now) The causes and consequences of America's opioid epidemic unfold in this drama following its perpetrators, victims and an investigator seeking the truth. This was a really eye-opening and edge-of-your-seat watch.
El Conde (The Count): (Netflix, August 22) Centers on Chile’s Augusto Pinochet who is not dead but an aged vampire. After living 250 years in this world, he has decided to die once and for all. Yikes.
A Traves de Tu Mirada (Netflix, TBD) Raquel and Ares are in a long-distance relationship. They finally reunite during summer on the landscapes of Costa Brava with their friends, Raquel and Ares begin to question whether their relationship can endure the test of time. Looks really good.
