We had to buy and check out a lot of books to write Radical Señora Era. One of our favorite parts to research was Latin American history. We learned about the wild and weird rules our great grandmothers and their grandmothers had imposed on them when they were young. For example, did you know that, over 100 years ago, just sitting in your front balcony or porch was seen as too seductive? lmao. They also could not leave their house at night - it was super discouraged, because at night the streets apparently belonged to men (that and the llorona or el diablo). How far we’ve come.
